Recovery

I apologize for the delayed update. Many of my faithful fans have encouraged me to write another one (this is for you Mom!). I do have a pretty legitimate excuse for the delay. I am getting over malaria and amoebas, and the jury is still out on the typhoid fever. It has been quite a week for me. However, at the end of this week I am reminded of several things.

1) Jesus first loved us.
2) Despite suffering, malnutrition, rising food prices, the plight of the poor and forgotten, broken hearts and bodies, and each and every anxiety we have, the promises of God will not fail.
3) I impact those around me; what an opportunity I have to love.

Since I haven't yet updated you on my trip to South Africa to visit my father, I definitely owe it a post. Be patient with me as I begin normal life again. And continue to pray for the Congo and its government officials. Most recently there have been promises in salary raises for teachers, and so when they go on strike, its the students who suffer. Also, price increases in food have caused many to go hungry and sadly, the poorest of the poor are the most affected here in the Congo. Join me in prayer as we battle the issues that I truly believe break God's heart also.

"I will never leave you or forsake you." Hebrews 13:5

Dear Lisa

I have been checking every day to read your update after your trip with your Dad and I felt that something must be wrong. You have been constantly in our prayers and now I know why. You must have been extremely ill? Were you by yourself? Did you have adequate medical assistance? Don't do too much too soon or you could have a relapse. Now I sound like your Mom!!!

We have actually had some news of the Congo in Australia lately, most of it depressing and telling of the thousands who have died, and the famine. Truly God's heart must break when he sees the mess we have made of His perfect world, and the inhumane way we treat others, each of whom is made in his image. The plight of the Congo is multiplied in many countries in the world. May God bless you Lisa and each person who goes to these trouble spots in his name to bring relief, often at great danger to your own health. You are there with the blessing of your fellow Christians as you spread God's love and mercy to those whom the world forgets.

We love you dearly and pray for you daily. Get well soon.

Much love from Aunty Janine

Lisa,
I am so glad I found your blog. I had emailed your dad to ask how you were doing. You have been in the prayers of our WCG congregation in Pompano Beach, FL (Larry Hinkle, Pastor) ever since your dad was here and told us about your plans. I think you were leaving shortly after his visit.

I am nearly in tears reading about the circumstances you see and face. We all experience frustration in our desire to see the fruits of our labor, but we're sitting here in the comfort of the US and our homes. I truly admire your determination and the humble dedication you display.

I will be sending your dad's email on to many in our congregation so they too can keep up with you.

In Christian love,
Carolyn Kieswetter
